Mumford and Sons Gentlemen of the Road Concert

Last saturday (6th of July) myself, sister, brother, best friend (Cait) and brothers friend (Hugo) all went to The Gentlemen on the Road concert, hosted by Mumford and Sons. Obviously the main act was Mumford, but we were also lucky enough to witness the fitness of Ben Howard, Edward Sharpe and the Manetic Zero's, Haim, and Vampire Weekend.

The stage and crowd watching Haim.

This concert exceeded any expectations I had.  It was literally like a mini festival complete with funny food stalls, rides, bunting, chill out areas, disco, fields and pissed jolly people everywhere- it was fantastic!  I expected Edward Sharpe and the Magneti Zero's and Ben Howard to be my favourite's as I listen to their music most out of all of the acts, but Mumford and Sons really stole the show.  Their vibe, energy and sound literally blew me away. The weather was hot (maybe too hot) and the music was incredible.  If ever there is a chance to see any of these acts again, I would in a jiffy.  Here are a few photos and a video from the concert.

Vegan Apple and Oat Tartlets: Green Kitchen Stories

Even if you're not into cooking or food,  I really think you will enjoy watching this video.  The production is so cute and simple.  It is from one of my favourite foodie blogs Green Kitchen Stories.  These little tartlets are vegan and also made from healthier ingredients than the usual tart (such as coconut oil and oats rather than refined flour and cholesterol buggering butter).  If I was to host a dinner party where I was seriously trying to impress, I would give these little babies a go.

Blurred Lines: Robin Thicke ft Pharell

Who knew girls could actually have bodies THAT good. Literally I don't know what to do with myself now.

The Row Backstage

I am a huge fan of The Row.  Just like their creators and head designers, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, The Row exudes effortless elegance in their clothing line and simple branding. This is a video of backstage footage. The video has that rose-tinted glasses feel to it; the picture is faded and has been made to look vintage.  This reflects on the beautiful classical music playing and the fresh young faces of The Row models.  Although this video is from their 2010 Winter Autumn collection, The Row's classic take on fashion renders this video's age indifferent. I hope you enjoy the video as much as I do.

Brussel Sprout Fig and Feta Ravioli Video

I am not a huge fan of pasta. It makes me feel bloated, full and lethargic. Because of this I have avoided eating pasta for some time now.  Another large problem I have with pasta is the mis-guided portion size that people think is normal.  An Italien friend once said that a portion of pasta must be no greater than the size of your own fist.  You can see where the Americans and other 'quantity over quality' cultures go wrong.

Regardless of my thing against most pasta dishes, this one looked just too cute not to share.  This video is from the blog Naturally Ella,  This blog is full of gorgeous vegetarian dishes, beautiful food photography and lovely videos like this one.  Watch Ella make this feta, fig and brussel sprout ravioli.  The recipe is on her page

I hope you like it as much as I do.

Product Review: Oatifix

My good fabulous friend Geneva lured me into Lush many a time when we lived together at University. Geneva is Lush's biggest fan: she uses their shampoo bars, soaps, lip balms, moisturisers- the lot.  As she recommends Lush so highly, and the fact that she has gorgeous and glowing skin, I decided to try out one of their fresh face masks: Oatifix.

The little secret here is that Lush are very good to strangers that walk through their door.   Not only are they extremely friendly bubbly enthusiastic people but they also like to give away little testers of their products. #woopwoop.

What I like about Lush (apart from free-bee's and nice people) is that their products are all organic and from a natural base.  This face mask for example is pretty much made from bananas, almonds, vanilla and oats.  -Sounds like my kind of breakfast! It makes sense really.  All natural products for an all natural healthy looking skin.  Here is the ingredients for this fresh face mask.

Watch how it is made...

What Did I Do?
I slapped a nice layer of Oatifix on my face, left it on for fifteen minutes and washed it off with hot/ warm water.  When washing it off I did the whole circle rubbing action to remove any dead skins cells.

What Do I Think?
Flipping fabulous.  My face feels like a baby's bottom- seriously smooth and clean. Although this face mask is supposedly for dry skin, I would suggest it to anyone in England with this cold below 5 degrees weather. The cold dehydrates my skin and therefore this mask is a brilliant boost.  Oatifix is quite a nice price too- only £5.95 for 75g of the stuff.  Nice, compared to the creme de la mers anyway.

Problems?
I have two problems with this mask:
1) It smells so good when you put it on taht you want to eat it.
2) It only lasts roughly four days as it is fresh- it is quite hard to use 75g in four days.  My advice- it great for a girls night in.

Grace Coddington at Versailles

This clip is from The September Issue, the documentary about the house of Vogue.  I watched this documentary about three years ago and loved it.  The hero of the film, for me, was not the famed Anna Wintour, but rather the fashion editor Grace Coddington.  It is with her passion and her vision that brings the pages of Vogue to life.  This clip shows Grace at Versailles in Paris where she shoots an editorial.
