I found these photos from the collaboration between Levi and Liberty of London. It was without doubt that  these two brands would create something spectacular and I think it is evident through these vibrant photos that that happened.

Breakfast in a Jar

There is something so attractive about serving something in a jar.  It makes something look so cute, rustic and special.  The other morning I put my break-y in a jar.

On this morning I had plain yoghurt, with cubes of avocado, slices of banana with sprinklings of bee pollen, linseeds, cacao nibs.  Now I know avocado on yoghurt sounds like a suspicious thing to have but don't knock it until you've tried it. I like the creamy texture of avo with the creamy texture of yoghurt. 

I do have to admit that this little jar of yoghurt pictured here didn't fill me up- I had more banana and avo on the side- but for presentation purposes, I kept those out of the picture. Here's to trying weird and wonderful food combinations.  After all, how else do we come up with popular concoctions as smoked salmon with cream cheese?

Style File: In Valencia

I havent done a style file of what I've been wearing for a long time.  I guess it's because I don't think I've been wearing anything that stylish or blog-able; or the fact I find posing for a picture a little cringe-y and arrogant.  I mean- who is to say I am well dressed?- Me? The other day however I thought I had stepped out the house blog-acceptable. So excuse my arrogance but this is what I wore.

Laura and I had just finished going for a coffee, and decided to stop off at one of the mini 'Frutas y Venduras' shops to buy some grub.  Just look at those beautiful veggies. I have not put any effects on the colours of them- If that isn't appetising then I think you're the weird one. 

What Elle Wears to Work

Elle Magazine has to be my favourite Fashion magazine to read.  Their articles are great and their continual report on fashion is quirky, fresh and easy to read. There is no wonder that the people who create Elle are, in my mind, the bees knees. This is one online column which I love and do keep up to date with: What Elle wear to work. Here are some of my favourite recents.

I love this column because it is essentially street style: how real people wear amazing clothes.  Of course they have access to the latest and greatest garments, have a professional in-house photographer, have an air-brusher and probably stage every single one of these photos. However, I cant help but buy into the ideology that the Elle photographer just caught these babes on their lunch break... That is half of Fashion though isnt it?  - The illusion. 

Ibiza

As I informed you, last week I was on the notorious party island of Ibiza. I was apprehensive about going to Ibiza: firstly because Ibiza is a place for excessive drinking (which Im not very good at) and secondly because the trip was being organised by Erasmus. So were my apprehensions viable?  Yes and no.

Our journey getting to Ibiza was absolute hell. We were told to get to the bus stop in Valencia for threepm. After a three hour wait outside at the bus stop (waiting for the unorganised Erasmus life staff to sort out which pupils had paid) we finally left at 6 o clock. 

We then had an hour and a half bus journey to Denia (the port where our ferry was leaving from).  We then had a two hour wait (outside in the cold) before we got on our ferry at 10pm.  Our ferry was four and a half hours long which consisted of drinking and bopping around in a 'boat disco'.  To paint you a picture; imagine a group of European people (a lot of french, german and italiens) all drunk, on a swaying ferry.  The boys were wearing dodgy coloured fake raybans, plastic trilbys, tacky wife beaters and ill-matched (mainly chequered or billabong) swim shorts.  The girls were wearing those too short shorts, flip flops and a fluro boob tube that doesn't stay up.  I sound very judgemental but it was more peoples behaviour that was most shocking.  Everyone on the boat was looking for a shag or at least a bit of tonsil tennis. After an hour or two of bopping on the boat, I looked around and realised that people were either eating each others faces, grinding on one another, excessively drinking, or passed out. We finally arrived in Ibiza at 2am.  We then had to wait an hour before being lead to our hotel which was a fifteen minute walk away. We arrived at our hotel at 3am where there was one man on the reception desk waiting to check in 300 students using paperwork.  We waited our turn and was finally checked in, freezing cold, at 4am. We arrived in our room to no beds set up and one sheet to keep us warm. Sleep was only granted at 5am after we had hunted a few blankets down and made our bed. 

Despite our crappy journey, the rest of the trip was fantastic.  Im going to go with the saying pictures speak a thousand words.  So here is the rest of our trip. 

The first day we hired cars and drove to a secluded little beach.

Recipe: Coconut & Carrot Cake

The other week Laura and I made a Carrot and Coconut Paleo cake together (although Laura was more the chef and I sue- chef).  As most of my friends know Laura and I are major health advocates.  So rest assure, although this is still a cake, there are a few health bonus's to eating this baby. 

Super moist, googey and yummy.  What you can see inside the cake is coconut flakes, grated carrot, raisons, and walnuts.  This cake tasted like the regular carrot cake, but less sweet and with a different coconuty icing.

Blossom: Mercat de Colon

The old market in Valencia has been converted into a hub of posh cafe's and restaurants.  This is precisely where we always go now for a good meal and fantastic coffee.  The Mercat de Colon is situated near the nice shops and old buildings.  There is beautiful architecture wherever you look. 

As our mum is also out in Valencia at the moment visiting with four other women, Laura and I decided to meet her and the ladies for lunch at the Mercat de Colon.  We went to our usual lunch spot which is called Blossom. The atmosphere was great, the sun was shining, lady chat was flowing across the table, but the food did take quite a while to arrive.  However, when it did arrive, we understood why.  There are no shortcuts in that kitchen; everything is made fresh.  As a result the food tasted amazing.

Mum had the fresh tagilatelle with tomatos, garlic and basil. 

Four of the other women had a saffron prawn (gambas) risotto.

One lady had spinach and ricotta ravioli with a fresh tomato, garli and olive sauce.

Laura and I had our favorite black sesame seared Tuna steak with a tangerine lettuce salad and a sesame, ginger and garlic dressing.

The lunch was fantastic and definitely worth another visit.  Here are some images of the Mercat de Colon. 

Street Style: Aya Monteverde

Aya Monteverde is a random girl caught on camera by the Vogue Street style photographer. These photos came from the street style blog that Vogue.com have going. Like with the Sartorialist's photo's, I think this photo captures the person. Aya has such a great personal style but also has a really beautiful face. I thought that her street style photos were worth sharing as she reminded me that style is personal and that when we dress we must stick to our roots and dress how ever we feel most comfortable; even if that is a poo coloured beanie or the leopard print leggings we were told were so 2008.  If we feel really comfortable and confident, it will always look good.

Daphne Groenevelds Dior Campaign

Daphne has been in the top model category for some time now, but she is a bit like Marmite. Some people think she is the coolest cat and absolutely beautiful (-I'm in this category), and some others cannot see why she is a model as 'she looks like an alien' (-as one friend put the other day).  Regardless of whether you think she belongs on mars or on the runways, Daphne has taken Kate Moss's role as the new face of the Dior Addict Campaign.  Here are some behind the scenes pictures of the campaign- courtesy of Vogue.
