Bimba and Lola Wish List

As you may or may not know, I am living out in Valencia at the moment, staying with my twin sister, all in the hopes to improve my Spanish.  While I have been out here, I have hit the Valencian high street shops.  As an avid shopper, I have to let you know that Valencia is a great shopping destination. One of my favourite shops out here is the Spanish shop Bimba and Lola. I have expressed my love for Bimba and Lola on this blog before. Here are some of their things that I am lusting after at the moment.  Find these finds on their website here.

Breakfast in a Jar

There is something so attractive about serving something in a jar.  It makes something look so cute, rustic and special.  The other morning I put my break-y in a jar.

On this morning I had plain yoghurt, with cubes of avocado, slices of banana with sprinklings of bee pollen, linseeds, cacao nibs.  Now I know avocado on yoghurt sounds like a suspicious thing to have but don't knock it until you've tried it. I like the creamy texture of avo with the creamy texture of yoghurt.

I do have to admit that this little jar of yoghurt pictured here didn't fill me up- I had more banana and avo on the side- but for presentation purposes, I kept those out of the picture. Here's to trying weird and wonderful food combinations.  After all, how else do we come up with popular concoctions as smoked salmon with cream cheese?

My New Roots Spring Samosa's

My New Roots is my favourite food blog.  Sarah Britton (the blogger) not only gives you delicious recipes, gorgeous photos and inspiration for dinner, she teaches you about the food you are eating.  Sarah Britton is a top nutritionist and has the knowledge and know-how of how to use food to feel great and (most importantly) be healthy.  I think another thing I admire about Sarah is how she writes; she makes healthy eating sound so exciting, fun and accessible.  You can feel her passion for food through her words.

This morning I was sent another beautiful recipe from Sarah: 'Fully-loaded Spring Samosa's with Sweet 'n Sour Chutney'. The Samosa's sound delicious and are also vegan and gluten-free.  I can't say I live a vegan life-style (I'm an egg and yoghurt monster) but I do believe that us humans should avoid gluten if we can. I can't wait to try this ol' recipe out. They would be perfect for a afternoon summer snack- or whenever really. I would like to try them with a large bowl of Raitia (that yoghurt-y mint dip).  Here is the recipe on My New Roots.

Style and The Chelsea Flower Show

The Chelsea Flower Show always seems to entice women to wear floral dresses and accessories as if they should fit in with the theme and event they are attending. As the event is in Chelsea, and quite a posh thing to go to, these floral dresses are always quite demure (see picture number 3 for prime example). However amongst the many style shots that Vogue or other fashion photographers take at this event, I often always prefer the outfits of the women who refuse to play camouflage.  Instead they dress for themselves (see pictures 1 and 2). Cheers to these well dressed posh totties.  I think they look fabulous.

(I want to wear this to work everyday)

The Row Backstage

I am a huge fan of The Row.  Just like their creators and head designers, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, The Row exudes effortless elegance in their clothing line and simple branding. This is a video of backstage footage. The video has that rose-tinted glasses feel to it; the picture is faded and has been made to look vintage.  This reflects on the beautiful classical music playing and the fresh young faces of The Row models.  Although this video is from their 2010 Winter Autumn collection, The Row's classic take on fashion renders this video's age indifferent. I hope you enjoy the video as much as I do.

Style File: In Valencia

I havent done a style file of what I've been wearing for a long time.  I guess it's because I don't think I've been wearing anything that stylish or blog-able; or the fact I find posing for a picture a little cringe-y and arrogant.  I mean- who is to say I am well dressed?- Me? The other day however I thought I had stepped out the house blog-acceptable. So excuse my arrogance but this is what I wore.

Grey wrap crop top: Topshop (old old old season)
Skirt: American Apparel
Bag: Amichi (Spain)
Shoes: ZARA (very recent)

My new shoes: extremely comfortable, they go with everything and they were a very nice price.

My Buddah Necklace from a random small jewellery shop.

Watch: €10!!! from Ale Hop

Laura and I had just finished going for a coffee, and decided to stop off at one of the mini 'Frutas y Venduras' shops to buy some grub.  Just look at those beautiful veggies. I have not put any effects on the colours of them- If that isn't appetising then I think you're the weird one.

Street Style: Horrendous turned Fabulous

This street style should not work.  I mean, she is wearing a large shapeless shirt as a dress with a long icky yellowy cream floral fabric coat over the top with a burgundy bag.  The average lady Jane would look horrific in this outfit- but it totally works for her and she looks great.

I think her amazing figure enables her to wear a shapeless shirt, her fresh- face allowing her to pull off that coat.  This shot just proves that fashion can only exist with style.  Without the innate style and personality from the model, there would be no fashion- just a horrendous collaboration of garments. Don't you agree?

An Animal Fashion Affair: Masks for a Ball

Fashion designers have once again come together and created something in the name of charity. This time it is for a masked ball aimed at raising funds for a charity helping stop elephant poaching.  I thought the masks were fab as well as the cause, so here is what those designers did. To purchase tickets to the masked ball event email RSVP@elephantfamily.org.

Diane Von Furtsenburg

Jasper Conran

Manolo Blanick (my favourite one)

Matches Always Gets It Right

If you follow this blog, you will know I have a huge love for Matches Fashion (it is on matches.com that I compile my wish list).  This shop/ online retailer manage to get it right every time.  They seem to be able to read my mind with what I want to wear: Whether it be the laid back style of Isabel Marant, the quirky yet classy shoes of Carven, or my favourite handbag designer Anya Hindmarch. Matches seem to be on the ball in stocking the best and the new. I subscribe to their emails.  This morning they sent me a suggestion of what to wear to the races.

Now, I have no intention of going to any such races- I wish I had as it sounds like a fun occasion and good excuse to dress up to the nines.  If I were to go to the races (permitted I had all the money in the world to afford this outfit) I would wear something very similar to what Matches has selected here.  Who can beat sunglasses by Linda Farrow for The Row? And as for that Mary Katranzou printed clutch- well she is the British queen of print- again unbeatable.  With this outfit, heads would be sure to turn and gawp  Id just have to make sure to be wearing those Bridget Jones all in one sucky-in body suits underneath- that Sportmax dress doesn't look very forgiving- not to mention VPL's are as sinful as wearing mustard yellow with sunburn.
