Chanel Little Black Jacket Exhibition

As a big Chanel fan (aren't we all), I have pencilled in my diary The Little Black Jacket Exhibition for next month.  The showcase exhibits the iconic statement piece (the little black jacket) being worn by Chanel's biggest muses.  With stars such as Kanye West, SJP, Kate Moss amongst these other beauties seen below, I think this exhibition is going to be worth a viewing!

The Exhibition has already been shown in Hong Kong, Tokyo, NYC and Taipei with fabulous reviews.  Here is a sneak peak of some of the many photographs in the collection. The London exhibition is being shown at the Saatchi gallery in London (Sloane Square), opening on the 12th October.

N.B.  If you thought it couldn't get much better- the Saatchi gallery is free to the public!

Style File: Gus

This is Gus.

Gus is my sister's special man friend.  As well as being a top guy, Gus is cool.  He pointed out that he is not really into fashion and just wears what he likes but that just goes to show that he has an organic sense of style.

Gus wears a Hurley flat cap

This top is by Amoeba music but is in aid to help save the planet.  If you log on Amoeba.com you will discover in more detail about what the do and how they help save the world.  THINK GREEN.

Gus' red Van shoes

A picture of Laura (sister) and Gus.

Let me just point out that, yes, Gus is 6ft something and Laura is also (like me) 5ft 1.5"- and I agree, that the two of them together- little and large- is a slightly bizarre sight.  Regardless, Gus gat styaaallee.

Gus wears:
Cap: Hurley
T-shirt: Amoeba
Trousers: couldn't tell me
Shoes: Vans

Laura wears:
Top: Old Khaki
Shorts: Topshop
Shoes: Little shop in Kenya

Anya Hindmarch Photobooth

I have not been able to post as much as I would have liked recently.  My limited amount of free time at the moment has meant that I will keep this post short and sweet.  I thought I would share with you my photobooth picture courtesy of the Bond St. Anya Hindmarch store as their little treat on Fashion Night Out.  The primary incentive to have your photo taken with this extremely cute Marrano clutch bag was in the hopes to win it! I havent heard anything back yet but I have still got my fingers crossed.

We were ushered into the dark photobooth and we asked to smile, pout and pose whilst waving the LED flashing lights clutch towards the camera. We were then asked to wait while the photo printed and our details were recorded in the hopes for the big win.

This was the purple card that our photo came in for a memento.  Thanks Anya!

As a huge huge fan of Anya Hindmarch,  I can't share this without urging you to check out here gorgeous christmas quality street inspired a/w 2012 collection of bags, accessories and purses can I?!

Style File: Today I wore...

This week I have been working in an office where the dress code is "smart".  The term "smart" means different things for different people.  Take Sarah Palin for example; she definitely got on the wrong raunchy side of smart.  Anyhow,  the pictures Below show what I wore today.

Necklace: H & M
Dress: Reiss
Tights: M & S
Cardigan: T by Alexander Wang
Shoes: Minneketonka

Alexander Wang: T.  I found this cardigan in the wonderful Selfridges sale two years ago for £30.  I think its original price was an outrageous £170.  Thank you Selfridges!

Reiss dress detail. This dress too was a bargin in the autumn sales last year.
Never say no to having a good browse in higher- end shops- the quality and cut is usually there so will often look better on than your Topshop or H&M.  The trick is to go for classic styles as they will not look 'last season' or dated.

Chunky Necklaces

I have been wearing my chunky silver necklace a lot recently. It seems to jazz up any outfit and make it pop.  This necklace is in the final picture of me pulling a stupid face.  Today I wore my necklace with a fitted black top, black polka dot high waisted shorts, black tights, black patent shoes and a BRIGHT RED coat (and you thought I was a goth for a second). The studded silver necklace complimented the polka-dot shorts.  Here are some pictures to inspire you to wear a chunky necklace too.

Top Tip: keep other jewelry to a minimum- no big earrings here.

Alberta Ferretti S/S 2013

An aquatic fashion fairytale featuring a lot of sheer light fabrics, delicate lace, long flowing dresses and beaded embellishments- this collection is dreamy.

Burberry S/S 2013

Looks like we will be wearing a lot of fusia pink metallic then.

Hats off to your Christopher Bailey- the collection is stunning.

PS.  If anyone finds out the soundtrack to this show please let me know?
I know Birdy features but that is about it.

The Large Style Magazine

My Sunday usually starts with making a cup of tea and grabbing for The Sunday Times Style magazine.  I read this magazine cover to cover before going and making eggs for breakfast.  Style magazine offers everything you want out of a weekly fashion magazine.  It has intelligent and thoughtful articles, gorgeous features, a few recipes, an editorial spread, horoscopes and a dash of comedy.  If you live in the UK and dont read Style then let me tell you my friend, you are missing out!

In celebration of London Fashion Week beginning, Style launched their Fashion issue.  This issue, to my great excitement, is extra large!!! (See image below). Yep, a blown up fashion magazine- pretty cool. In case you missed out on Style's Fashion Issue,  here are some snaps of my favourite pages so you can get an idea of what was inside.

The high street picks.

An edit about how high-street has stepped its game up and how we can rock catwalk trends on a budget. A bit of a how-to as well as people of the industry are interviewed.

My favourite A/W '12 campaign: Mulberry featuring Lindsey Wixson. It tells such a story.

'Winter Florals' a/w '12 look how-to

'Military' a/w '12 look how-to

'Statement Knits' a/w '12 look how-to

'Clean Cuts' a/w '12 look how-to

'After Dark' a/w '12 look how-to

One of the Editorial spreads in this feature was fairytale Hansel and Gretel (or just Gretel) fashion fun.  Aryan and demure but glamorous and desirable, this shoot got me excited for Christmas wear...  And to play with my red lipstick again.

For those of you who are not familiar with Style magazine, Mrs Mills is like your sexy, candid agony aunt. She doesn't sugar coat, she tells it to you how it is and she always mixes a bit of humour in there.  This lady makes me laugh without fail every Sunday.  This Sunday, because it was Styles Fashion issue, all of the queries asked of Mrs Mills were fashion related conundrums.  The last image is a snap of the first but very amusing problem.  Have a read and I'm sure you'll agree with me when I say (/write) that Mrs Mills would certainly make an entertaining dinner party guest.
